Tone Bellydance Philosophy

Tone Bellydance is both a community dance space and a performing troupe. We believe bellydance should be welcoming, expressive, creative, and fun for dancers of many levels and backgrounds.
Performance is an important part of the Tone Bellydance experience. Our dancers have opportunities to participate in community showcases, festivals, recitals, and special events throughout the year.
We value:
- inclusivity and encouragement,
- artistic growth,
- teamwork and reliability,
- performance quality,
- and creating engaging experiences for audiences.
Because our performances serve different purposes, not every event is structured the same way. Some performances are community-oriented showcases featuring dancers of many levels, while others are more selectively curated based on choreography, rehearsal participation, performance needs, and event format.
Featured roles, solos, and specialty opportunities are considered individually and may depend on factors such as:
- rehearsal attendance,
- performance readiness,
- group cohesion,
- reliability,
- experience within the company,
- and suitability for the event.
Our choreography is developed specifically for Tone Bellydance classes and performances. Learning choreography through the session process is an important part of maintaining quality, consistency, and ensemble connection. For this reason, routines are generally taught during their designated session and are not typically learned informally through videos or peer teaching alone.
Above all, we want Tone Bellydance to remain a place where dancers can grow, perform, challenge themselves, and experience the joy of dance together.
